Why should I use the Pooled Trust

The WNY Coalition Pooled Trust has been in existence for 12 years and has over 550  beneficiaries. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, face to face contact in which we come to you, and quick turn around time. 

The WNY Coalition Pooled Trust has relationships with both the Erie and Niagara County Medicaid offices as well as a number of other Service Providers. The trust is professionally administered. We have NO minimum deposit and UNLIMITED checks per month. 

We offer trusts for both the under and over 65 Medicaid population.  In addition, we also offer opportunities for Friends and Family members to future plan for their loved ones. 

The following are examples of the types of disbursements that the Management Committee can approve for non-SSI recipients.  However, each distribution is at the sole discretion of the Management Committee and this list should not be indicative of a consent for disbursement. Please note that all requests must have prior Management Committee approval. 
 
  • Pre-need funeral and burial expenses
  • Legal fees
  • Home improvements (if beneficiary owns the property)
  • Case/Care Manager, if not covered by Medicaid
  • School tuition, books, and supplies
  • Entertainment items and events
  • Vacations (restrictions apply, contact us for more information)
  • Transportation expenses, if not covered by Medicaid
  • Purchase and maintenance of a car (restrictions apply, contact us for more information)
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Household goods and furniture
  • Phone and Cable bills (must look at the household composition/number of devices on bill)
  • Home care services, if not covered by Medicaid
  • Medical Equipment, if not covered by Medicaid
  • Purchase of a house or vehicle (restrictions apply, contact us for more information)
  • Shelter related (rent, mortgage, taxes, utility bills, water, sewage, garbage collection- must look at the household composition)
  • Groceries or food
  • Mileage to others to drive the beneficiary using a third-party vehicle, must use the appropriate form or gasoline to others to drive the beneficiary using a third-party vehicle, must provide receipts
  • Reimbursement to friends/family members for items purchased on behalf of the client, itemized receipts required
  • Current credit card payments, itemized receipts and invoice required
  • True Link card
*If client lives in Section 8 or HUD housing any payment of recurring expenses may be problematic

Non-SSI prohibited expenses:
  • Cash or payments directly to the beneficiary
  • Purchase of gifts
